Why the Georgian evening still splits at the balcony

A living-room set and a balcony speaker are not one audience. Daypart maps that ignore the open door will praise a bulletin that already lost the room.

A television set in a domestic interior during evening viewing

In Batumi, from late spring, the sitting room is not sealed. A serial can be on the main set while a neighbour’s music hour occupies the balcony. Interviewers who only ask “was the television on” will hand sales a reach figure for a bulletin that the household had already left.

We added a door question to the evening diary: was the balcony open, and was another sound competing. The answers are messy. They are also the reason a 21:00 news claim sometimes collapses while the 19:00 serial still holds. A map that paints the whole evening as one ribbon is easier to present and less true.

Controllers who hate the question still need it. The alternative is a rate card that prices an empty sofa.
